A blog form of "Cult Goddess Magazine".
http://www.cultgoddessmagazine.com
Cult Goddess Magazine is a free online magazine, but now, with the help of this blog, we can bring you more up to date information on past Goddesses and post interviews between issues.
Special editions, announcements and comic page inserts can all be found here.
The CGM-TV player also lives here, bringing you new episodes whenever possible.
Last week, in my Production Blog, we shared some video from Cult Goddess Magazine Alum, Michelle Tomlinson, aka, the Mighty McT.
She's got some more words of wisdom for you and, through her inspiration, I have continued to blog about how you can start making your own movies over in that other blog.
Some of you likely already know that CGM Alum Jennifer Wenger ( interviewed as a Wonder Woman cosplayer and actress with Michelle Prenez ) has fulfilled our prophecy about her and risen up the ranks of Cult Goddessdom to full blown Mount Olympus Royalty.
She recently married her very own Prince Charming, Casper Van Dien, in a beautiful mountain wedding. Mr. Van Dien has one of the wedding photos as his default on IMDB.
But, she has been up to more than changing her marital status. Mrs. Van Dien has also been working on new movie and video roles that will entertain you, scare you and maybe blow your mind.
Always one to have fun, she participated in this musical sensation, "Deadpool The Musical 2".
A new trailer dropped last week for "Alpha Wolf", starring Casper Van Dien and Jennifer Wenger (Van Dien) and some other familiar faces.
And while "Lumber vs Jack" was made quite a few years ago, in an effort to support the sequel, it is now available for FREE viewing over at Midnight Pulp.
And Finally, you all should know by now that the most recent movie I made with Jenn, "Jack vs Lanterns" is now available on DVD-R and for a few more days as part of Prime Video.
Never heard of FabFitFun? Well, you have now and I think the word will be spreading because they've got the coolest Genie promoting their stuff. Monique Parent recently shared a link to see the video that you should be watching out for on cable TV, such as WE TV.
FabFitFun describes themselves as a company that helps you "Discover Products For a Life Well Lived" and if you have been following Monique Parent on YouTube you know that she's the perfect choice to promote such a lifestyle.
In what is apparently her first Canadian convention appearance, Tiffany Shepis ("Tromeo and Juliet", "Hoodoo for Voodoo" ) will be a guest at Calgary Horror Con.
The convention is next weekend, June 2, 2018. Visit the website for details.
If you're on the U.S. side, but live way up North, grab your passport and go meet one of the genre's greats.
Follow her on Twitter so you don't miss news about future appearances.
Are you free this Saturday? (You may want to find time if you answered "Yes" to the other two questions.)
Then you're in luck! Kelli Maroney will be appearing at WhedonCon! This weekend! Saturday, May 19th only.
Sorry we're late with the news, gang. As I understand it, this was a bit of a last minute booking. Nature of a fast moving business where schedules sometimes change in the blink of an eye.
"Actress Kelli Maroney is coming to #WhedonCon2018. Maroney starred as Samantha Belmont in the 1984 #Horror classic Night of the Comet, a performance which partially inspired the character of Buffy Summers․ Join her at 9am Saturday for her panel "How to Build a Buffy: Joss Whedon's Secret Slayer Ingredient." Autographs and Photo Ops will also be available."
There has been talk of a new Tremors series for quite awhile now. The movie has spawned several sequels, varying in quality, but all fun. The one ingredient missing from every single sequel and the original Sci-Fi series, has always been Bacon. No, not the salted meat, the Kevin.
Kevin Bacon starred in the first Tremors, never to return to the franchise, until now. Except, if this series doesn't get picked up (SyFy apparently gave it a pass after the pilot was shot.) will we ever see Bacon as Valentine McKee again?
For those who don't remember, Perfection was part of a T.V. series once before. Back near the start of the Millenium "Tremors the Series" ran for a short 13 episode series.
The show itself wasn't "perfection", but it did what it could to develop the single note "Jaws under the sand" idea for television by branching out with some new monsters and new human protagonists. The Tremors sequels did much the same thing, but it seemed to work better as movies.
Really though, the missing ingredient was Bacon. "Everything is better with Bacon" applies to food and movies.
The news that the new show wasn't picked up has hit fans hard. There's still some hope that we'll get to see the pilot movie and a few fans are keeping a candle lit that Netflix or Amazon will pick up the show. From the looks of the trailer we're missing out if we don't get to see the finished film. It kept the humor, the jump scares and the suspense.
I love the homage to the original movie with the half buried car. I'm not sure people get that the scene in "Lumber vs Jack" (still free for May) with the vines pulling the Jeep underground was partly to GRIM in the movie and partly a nod to "Tremors".
Watch the trailer for yourself and lament our loss because a television executive didn't want to take a chance on another Graboid series.
I only every got to work with Linnea Quigley once on "Hoodoo for Voodoo" (recently mentioned on the Production Diary Blog ). Well, for those of you living in South Florida, Popcorn Frights and Savor Cinema are bringing you an opportunity to see her in person as part of a special screening of "The Return of the Living Dead".
Linnea Quigley as "Trash" in "The Return of the Living Dead"
Monique Parent is bringing us a fun contest!
For details watch the video and visit the YouTube page to read the rest of the important information.
If you're looking at this blog AFTER June 5, 2018, ignore the contest. It ends then. But still visit her channel for more make-up, filmmaking and Monique fun. (And maybe a new contest.)
I am a huge fan of the mythical beast and have yet to see a horror movie make good use of it. The best designs in a fantasy movie for Minotaurs, in my opinion, were the ones in "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" trilogy. Strong, true bull heads and hooves. But as cool as they were, they weren't scary. The sci-fi channel movies I saw with Minotaurs had no human traits. So, that's really just a giant bull. No fun there. My enjoyment of this movie will have a lot to do with how well the design of the beast translates to the screen.
I do like the way they plan to modernize it. Sounds a bit like "Cube" with a monster in it. Follow the link above for more information.
I didn't see any cast information, so I thought it gives an opportunity here to do a bit of fantasy casting. Which cult goddesses would you like to see playing among the college students in peril? Would Debbie Rochon make a good evil college President? Or what about Monique Parent?
Every so often another publication gets things so right, I pretty much just link to their story here.
I was super excited when I heard Kevin Bacon was involved with a new Tremors series for the SyFy Network. I'm no super fan, but I love the films and they're often part of my October sci-fi monster viewing. The more I heard about plans for the series, the more excited I became to see it.
The original TV series was a bit forgettable though. It had some cool concepts, but just didn't catch on, even with the Tremors broader fan base.
The idea of trying it again all these years later, however, seemed right. I think PopHorror may have gotten it right though, that "Ash vs Evil Dead" has made networks a bit gun shy of investing a lot of resources into older titles that fans seem happy enough to pirate rather than pay to see.
I haven't used this space to announce a crowd funding campaign in quite awhile, but this is a project for a friend and colleague of mine, Anjanette Clewis. Anjanette is very supportive of indie filmmakers and so I think she earns a bit of support in return.
From the Indiegogo Page: "Parrish Randall and Anjanette Clewis play the venomously estranged married couple Roger & Melanthe in the feature flick, Rift. Their characters battle like the "War of the Roses" on acid."
The fundraising:"The Rift" needs completion funds. In general this means that movie has been shot, but now needs some money to get edited. Any of you who been following the long road to complete "Jack vs Lanterns" probably know that a lack of funds to commit to the movie has slowed down its progress considerably. It has also forced me to cut scenes and change the way I had planned to carry out certain special F/X. These are not problems confined to independent movies.
If you would like to help, financially or by spreading the word, please visit "The Rift" Indiegogo page for more details, to see what perks they have and to get links to donate or spread the word.
Kelli Maroney recently shared a press release that our sci-fi and music fans will be interested in, but you better read it fast. A very limited pressing of more vinyl copies is being produced of the NotC soundtrack.
I've said it before: One of the reasons we feature Monique in the blog so often is that she's incredibly prolific. Now that she's self producing some projects in addition to working with and for others, she sometimes seems to be working all of the time. Tina-Desiree Berg and I managed to find a small break in her schedule and talk to her about the things she's been busy on and a thing or two that she has coming down the line.
So, recently, Tina-Desiree Berg gave me the opportunity to co-host a podcast with her. It's about independent film and TV and genre media.
This past week we recorded our first two shows and they will be available on the BCinemaTV site soon. This first episode, however, is more time sensitive than others.
Tara Cardinal of Karma Klub is trying to raise awareness for the show in order to win a grant, which will make filming it easier and allow her and the rest of her crew to better achieve the very solid vision they have for this project.
Follow the link, watch the trailer, comment, like or dislike it and subscribe to the channel in order to keep up with what happens in the future. Tell them BCinema Talks sent you. This is the best way to help the show get completed soon. It's also a great way to show people you heard about it from us and will allow us to get the best guests ;)
Meanwhile, either listen to this podcast here, or download it to your phone and listen to while you drive around or work in the yard, but listen to it.
Guests: Tara Cardinal, Esther Goodstein, Jennifer Thomas (Karma), and Crystal Santos.
There's a new web series coming and it is going to knock you out.
A couple of posts ago we brought you behind the scenes with Monique Parent while she was filming with Tara Cardinal. Well, the fruits of that labor and many other labors have been compiled into a trailer for a new web series, "Karma Klub". (Subscribe to that channel to keep track of updates.)
Check out the people involved: With: Monique Parent, George Perez, Esther Goodstein, Krystina Tigner, Jennifer Thomas, Dominique Swain, Gary Graham, Rena Riffel, Del Howison, Crystal Santos & HOLLYWOOD of Glow fame.
Watch the trailer for yourself and then comment on the video to let producers know who you would like to see appear in front of the camera. Follow the "Watch on YouTube" link to comment and subscribe there.
This show is going to have action, style, retribution and it's all coming right in time.
As today is a day to celebrate women, I have two videos for you.
One, a BBC 2 video that encapsulates how some women feel today. Watch out the language is not safe for work. NSFW.
The other is a video which my wife directed many years ago when I was doing a short for a green film festival. She had an idea, but I had already decided to direct my own and told her I'd shoot hers if she directed it herself. She did. Split Decisions from Nancy Liquori on Vimeo.
You guys have seen Monique Parent here on the blog before. Like I said, she's a prolific Cult Goddess and provides a lot of opportunities to share stuff.
Last night she and director, Tara Cardinal, gave Facebook Users a unique opportunity to interact with the film they are making. This stream from last night also gives us a look at the shot set ups and some other behind the scenes stuff.
For my first CGM post this month, I present "Savaged", starring Debbie Rochon.
I think this movie is appropriate, because Debbie is not only the lead, but her character is the entire driving force behind the story, along with the dog, Lotus (played by Val, my old dog).
Here is the trailer. Enjoy the full movie on Amazon Prime.
I pretty much just went with the original video title on this one. If you're not subscribed to Monique's YouTube channel, you risk missing out on new videos when she posts them and they just get better with every passing month. Her production level has grown since she started the channel from her apartment.
Enjoy, CGM fans.
And remember, it's YouTube enabled, but the word "Decadent" is in the title, so maybe judge for yourself whether or not you should be watching this at work.
If you don't know who Ryli Morgan is, you're missing out. She's been featured in a number of films from Director Mark Baranowski and his production company On Mark Productions. Last year she helped me out by playing Lawyer Marti Renkin in Jack vs Lanterns.
If you're a member of the Cult Goddess Magazine group on Facebook you've probably already heard the news that "Mister Dissolute" has been released on a special "Liberal Edition" Digipak DVD. It's available signed at a special pre-order price of just $10 with artwork from Enzo Sciotti. Pre-order your copy now with paypal at the website www.createtolive.com
Still not sure you want a copy? Check out the trailer below.
WARNING!
Some may consider this trailer to contain images
"adult" in nature and NSFW.

Just a quick word on Cult Goddess Magazine alum, Michelle Prenez's latest magazine appearance. She will be appearing in issue 11.2 of JellyBaby Magazine. The photos were shot by Genevieve Marie Photography and are an Alice in Wonderland theme. (Michelle is credited as "Michelle Saba".
Follow the links to learn more about the photographer, model and publication.
P.S., Shamless plug, Michelle plays Michelle (I got really creative there) in both Lumber vs Jack (available on Amazon Prime) and the in post production sequel, Jack vs Lanterns.
What is a "Lookbook"? According to Google Dictionary it is: "a set of photographs displaying a fashion designer's new collection, assembled for marketing purposes."
A collection of highly artistic photos featuring the designs available throughPinup Girl Clothing, "The Ghosts of Broadway" conveys a feeling of historical reference and feminine empowerment not often seen in simple marketing materials.
Visit the link and see the modeling work of Monique Parent and others. When combined with the talented eye and creativity of Heidi Calvert, the clothing line is brought to life as works of art.
Visit for the art, but be warned, you may find yourself shopping a bit too.
2018 brings us the 5th happening of David DeCoteau's "Day of the Scream Queen", a gathering of genre talent for meeting, greeting and autograph signing. This year's guests include, but are not limited to: Kelli Maroney, Linnea Quigley, Ken Horn, Michelle Bauer, Brinke Stevens and more. (No mention of that director, Jason Liquori. Must be an oversight )
A quote from the event has David DeCoteau saying this: "These amazing women have become my friends and colleagues and DAY OF THE SCREAM QUEENS is a celebration of our many years working together."
